K2 Academy of Contemporary Jewellery is a specialist jewellery school in central London, based at Cockpit Bloomsbury, just a short walk from Hatton Garden, London’s Jewellery Quarter.
We offer a creative and technically rigorous approach to jewellery education, supporting students to develop strong making skills, explore experimental design, and build confidence as independent jewellers. Through small-group teaching, hands-on training, and access to a professional creative environment, K2 encourages students to think critically, work skilfully, and develop their own artistic voice.

K2 Academy was established and is directed by jewellery artists and tutors Kelvin J Birk and Katrin Spranger, both of whom have 20+ years of experience in goldsmithing, jewellery making and metal work and tutoring. They are dedicated to sharing their extensive knowledge.
The students benefit from K2’s central London location, close to Hatton Garden’s jewellery quarter and the Goldsmiths’ Assay Office. K2 is based within Cockpit Bloomsbury, a thriving community of professional design and craft businesses, which includes renowned contemporary practitioners. This unique setting offers K2 students the opportunity to network and gain valuable insight into a professional jewellery environment.

In an increasingly AI-driven world, we believe the value of making by hand is greater than ever. While AI can generate images and concepts, it cannot replace the benefits of working directly with materials, solving creative and technical challenges, and developing a unique artistic voice. The process of making encourages focus, confidence and creative problem-solving, offering rewards that extend beyond the finished object.

SMALL SIZE CLASSES
With a max. 9 students per class, students receive personalised attention and extensive support from their tutor.

Based at Cockpit Arts in Bloomsbury, we are in a super central London location, just a short walk from Hatton Garden, London’s renowned Jewellery Quarter, and around 10 minutes from Holborn Station.
Surrounded by museums, cafés, shops, universities, creative spaces, and excellent transport links, Bloomsbury is a vibrant and easily accessible neighbourhood in the heart of London.
ACCESS TO MATERIALS AND TOOLS
Course fees include generous use of base metals, including copper, brass, and gilding metal, as well as full access to all workshop tools.
K2 is also the only college to give students gold to make a piece, offering rare hands-on experience working with precious metal. At the end of the course, students have the option to purchase their gold piece if they wish, with no obligation.
